Sylvia is an incredible tailor and dressmaker. I got my bridal qipao here and the process was extremely easy and efficient–an initial visit to pick out my style and take my measurements, then I came back to try it on once I was done, and then she made a couple more adjustments so it fit me perfectly. The dress is so well-made that my dry cleaner, unprompted, noticed and raved about its quality and attention to detail!When I mini-panicked two days before my wedding because my Western dress no longer fit quite right, she calmly tailored it right away, and you’d never be able to tell that the dress was altered.You need to see Sylvia not just for qipao–but please do, she’s one of the only people left in NYC who can make them for you!!!!!–but also for all of your tailoring and alteration needs for any style of clothing. She’s amazing!!!!!(Also, she speaks perfect English, AND she’s really kind; she checked up on me all of 2020 to see if I needed covid PPE. Since covid started, she’s been appointment-only, so call ahead if you’d like to check out her garments.)

My daughter wanted a traditional Qipao, we didn’t know where to purchase one. My daughter did some research online and found Sylvia boutique. We drove drove down from Connecticut. We arrived at the boutique and were immediately welcomed in. My daughter and I had a wonderful experience. She was very helpful, knowledgeable, patient and kind. My daughter was able to try on different styles before she found her dream dress. My daughter who is learning Chinese and will be traveling to China next year was beyond happy when Miss Sylvia took the time to speak with her in Chinese and give her advice for when she is in China.We will definitely go back and would highly recommend Sylvia Boutique to everyone. It was well worth the drive.
