Review Summary

The Glen apartments is really old. Even though all the renovations make it look fancy, the 1960s building shows its true colors now and then. We moved in mid summer of 2017. I would not say the apartment was everything we expected but things were ok. Our daughter was born mid September. When the cold season set in, in November, she developed eczema. She was constantly scratching herself and had a very very difficult time sleeping through the night. We changed a lot of things in our lives to help her from the laundry detergent to the entire family’s diet. Nothing helped. Accidentally in early April we discovered mold in one of the walls in the master bedroom. This is where she slept. The room was usually colder than the other rooms in the house but we never expected mold. We moved her to another room and she slept peacefully through out night. That is when we realized she was allergic to the mold spores. We started inspecting the room and what we found was terrible. There was mold on the babies crib bed which had one end next to the wall. There was a closet on this wall. When we pulled out all the clothes in the closet, we saw a lot of mold on the back of the closet as well. No wonder our little one suffered so much. Please see the pictures attached. I don’t have the picture of the largest patch of mold on the wall behind our bed. They entered the apartment without permission and cleaned it. When asked about they said they have the liberty to do so when it is an emergency. Ironically the mold was reported 3 days earlier. Most disturbing part is how the management reacted to this. We told them how much our 6 month old and the family has been through the last few months due to the problem and the management was completely indifferent to it. They even went to the extent of saying it is not that bad. This is a community where there are a lot of young kids and it is the responsibility of the management to make sure it is a safe place. We decided to move out of the place the next weekend and the management took the entire week to process our request to move out. The community manager was of no help. The only answer we got from her everyday was ‘we have some policies and procedures and I need to ask the regional manager’. Overall our experience with the management was tiring, stressful and exhausting. Usually it is ok but when there are issues they are least helpful. We moved out the next weekend and I haven’t seen any eczema rashes on my little one since then.Pros1. Nice community with a lot of families and kids2. The appliances are new3. The corridors always smell good.4. The gym had towels and updated equipment.5. Huge patios. I ve never seen this big patios in an apartment before.6. Multiple exits through out the building.7. Occasional community events like Mexican night, cookie decoration.Cons1. The building is very old. Built in the 1960s.2. There is no exhaust in the kitchen. There is a fan which suctions the air just to be released all over the room.3. The floor creaks. Constantly creaks. Carpet or no carpet. Still creaks.4. You can hear the conversations in the house above or below to the extent you can pitch in. There are days that we could not fall asleep because our upstairs neighbors were up and walking. You could hear every step.5. There is only one elevator per building. It is small and slow. It has a heavy swinging door on every floor additional to the automatic sliding door. You need a had free to get in and out of the elevator and using it alone with a stroller is almost impossible.6. The staff are usually ok and helpful until there is a problem. We realized the manager did not know the next steps or how to solve it or had no authority to make decisions. We heard ‘I need to ask my regional manager’ as the answer for nearly all our questions.7. In the short 7 months we stayed there, there was a break in into multiple cars in one of the garages and management just brushed it aside saying it happens and the residents should be more responsible with what they leave in the car.

I would give a zero star if I could for the customer service. I have been calling and sending emails and no answers whatsoever. This is a shame after being a resident for 6 months and after being the one contacting the residence manager about my final bill. No answers to my emails or phone calls and especially no calls from the regional manager as she was promising. I am very disappointed with the customer service. Honestly I didn’t care much about the old building it was a very quiet area. If I had to go back to Cali I would never rent at sofi Belmont never ever. It is overrated and too expensive. Again disappointing service.

On 09-08-2011 break ins have happened in the apartment. The thieves knew the entire apartment inside out. There wasn’t any forced entry, all the locks were opened using bump keys. What management did was replaced all the locks which can again be opened using the bump key. As far as I know there has being 2 break ins on 09-08-2011. There were more in the past.Everything valuable were stolen from the house including laptops, ipods and many more. Please don’t consider as negative comments. It is information be careful. Belmont used to be safe place and the high prices are paid for the safety. If it is not safe think for yourself is it worth paying so much
