A beautiful fishing pier at a nice quiet beach. Dogs are allowed in the beach, whe on a leash, but dogs cannot go out on the pier. That was the only bummer. Awesome views from the end of the pier and good fishing.

Before covid my 88 yr old parents came t to visit from El Paso TX. I drove them and my sister’s to San simeon. I took some steaks to grill by the beach. They absolutely loved it, they lived in Burbank for 18 years back in the 1990s, but they hadn’t been up north except to Santa Rosa where my boy’s and I lived for 3 yrs. They definitely enjoyed Napa Valley as well, they had the opportunity to enjoy the many beautiful winerys, I also drove them back to Bodega Bay which of course is a sight to see. Sam Simeon is perfect to grill and relax after enjoying a delicious steak, it’s small and usually not super packed. The restrooms are clean and the walk to the beach and Pier are close by to enjoy. My Mom is on a wheel chair so it’s great to be within close distance for her to easy access and a great view from the picnic area. Absolutely worth the 2 HR drive from Central Valley.

Something for everyone. But even with a little fog it was a safe place to watch sleeping sea lions. The protected area north had a few calves that made it to the pier. Amongst heighters beach goers and kite flyers the sleeping sea lions rested between feedings.
