Can you be in love with a bed? Can a bed change your life?? Yes and yes.We recently took delivery of our new bed from Malibu Mattress and have been sleeping better than we have in, literally decades. Our old bed was causing backache and loss of sleep that affected so many other parts of our lives. I would repeatedly get up in the middle of the night to take ibuprofen hoping to mitigate the pain and get back to sleep. Now I sleep through the night and wake up rested and ready. A good night’s sleep has given my wife and I more energy in the day, better concentration and productivity.Since I live in Thousand Oaks and work in Malibu it made sense to look at mattress stores between the two. Our easiest options were the new Malibu Mattress store in Malibu on PCH at Kaman-Dume and Sleep Numbers at the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. Our first stop was Malibu Mattress and their showroom was impressive. After trying a few flat mattresses, our sales person or should I say sleep consultant Gerald (as he never made us feel like he was selling us), suggested if we were going to invest in a mattress for the next 10 to 20 years we really should try and consider all options. Those options included a mattress that allowed individual firmness control, a base that could elevate head and feet and a massage function. A special feature called ‘Zero Gravity Mode’ which elevates both head and feet at such an angle that eliminates any pressure on your back was impressive. It resonated that our mattress was an investment and not just a purchase. As we were taking our time trying out the various options we met the owner Rick and he really helped us understand the benefits of a quality sleep system. Working with both Gerald and Rick made us feel confident and comfortable.We really wanted to make sure we were considering all options so we decided to go to Sleep Numbers next. Although their showroom was considerably smaller, their product and displays were very nicely set up. The salesperson also made a very good, no pressure presentation. Since we like the adjustable beds at Malibu Mattress we compared a similar product offered at Sleep Number. Their salesperson gave us a nice brochure that included all the product variations and prices.Ultimately we decided on Malibu Mattress for several reasons including how we were treated, the education we received, the price, the fact that we met the owner (which means a lot), that much of their beds are manufactured at their own factory Agoura Hills, and finally the warranty. We purchased a fairly thick split top mattress with the option to adjust how firm each side was with separate remote controls. We included an adjustable base that individually controls the elevation of our head and feet. The extra option of a built in massage function was a must and we included two sets of sheets, two new pillows.On our scheduled delivery day we received a call from our driver saying our bed was coming on time as promised. The delivery team removed our old mattress and set up our bed quickly and efficiently. They tested every element of the bed then fully trained us on how to use it. We signed off on the quality control confirmation less than an hour after arrival.
We are very happy with our new sleep system and with the Malibu Mattress experience.We highly recommend Rick and his team for anyone looking for improved sleep. One last note; we love the Zero Gravity mode!I give our bed Six Stars!!
