I think this abhorrent behavior for a company, and should be reported.

Honestly, it seems disconcerting that a person like Sharon could be allowed to operate a company. I know pandemics call for stressed times, but she has a monopoly on the Flower Gardens that she likes to take advantage of others with. I am immunocompromised and called in to try and get information about her company’s charters and know about availability. She immediately started off hostile towards me when I asked how the dive companies that she pays to advertise for her work and if she knew if there was any availability for upcoming trips. (For example, I did not know if I had to be in a certain state to book with a particular dive company.) She told me that the companies were listed on her site and I was capable of looking them each up myself to go and call them individually to find out if they’re available. Surprised, I tried then to ask about costs and if each might charge differently. She told me that because of COVID she was charging more per diver for a lowered capacity. I asked how she was handling accommodating to COVID regulations, and she IMMEDIATELY raised her voice with me saying, I can charge what I want as I’m already operating at a loss to have people like you even be able to join and you don’t know what it’s like to keep a business open. At that point, I *did* call her out and tell her that there was no reason to treat me with such hostility or be rude. I had not asked about her costs, but about COVID concerns. She, still defensive, told me that she was taking on 22 people instead of 30, operating at 50 percent. I told her that was 75% and not 50%, which turned into her telling me she didn’t care what percent it was because she had not been told she couldn’t by any government regulation as of yet. I tried re-asking still to know about the different precautions, but she insisted on continuing on about how I don’t know operation costs, and the amount of people it takes to run a charter, and that she was not going to go down to an actual 50%. I chose to hang up. This was literally the extent of the conversation, with little having been said on my side.If that had been where things were left, I would not be writing publicly about her antics, but she went on to call EVERY DIVE COMPANY she works with to bar me from getting information about the trips by telling them to not let a person at my phone number book. One company was kind enough to let me know she had done this, and that I could make it known for discrimination, but that even with the little she pays dive companies, with COVID happening, they did not want to risk some money coming in during scarce times and challenge her for illegal practice because she has been known to be the only company that operates charters to the Flower Gardens. I think this abhorrent behavior for a company, and should be reported.I never raised my voice with her, used foul language, or put her or her company down. To go on a vendetta for being hung up on over a phone call to contact every dive company you pay to bar me from booking seems outlandish and illegal. I’m ashamed to think such a company operates in Texas. I do not think this was professional, nor respectable, and so should be brought to others’ attention.

They have a elite attitude and are starting to price goug. They are taking advantage of the Covid 19 situation.

Fling Charters and the Flower Garden is exceptional. The crew is the best in the business. All crew members know their stuff. There are a limited number of liveaboard options in the USA. They have been opertating for 30 years. They know what they are doing. As for the cabins. Yes it feels like a camp bed. Is it going to ruin your experience? Absolutely not! The boat is huge. The sundeck has bean bags and beach chairs and tables. The dining hall has comfy booths, books and people are always sharing dive stories. You don’t want to miss out on this quiet gem! I will be returning every year for more world class diving!
