The news product they produce is good. Working in the newsroom as a content manager was not a at all a positive experience. The company is run by Quincy Media, a corporation that, very obviously is more experienced with running newspapers. The reporters are young, fresh out of school, primarily from out-of-town, and extremely underpaid. That’s probably why they only stay isolated at Indian Hills for their short 2-year contracts before fleeing the area. Although workers enjoy a lot of good support from the community, we didn’t receive a Christmas bonus and enjoyed little to no holiday time off. There was however enough money to pave the entire parking lot, relocated the entire production room and build a 4-star green room for guests. My GM joked about me working on Christmas, even though I have small child, which Is pretty twisted. I would never work there again and I won’t support their product based on my experience there. Anyone with a scanner, social media and access to apnews dot com can get the same information easily.
