The band had held those diamonds in place for generations.

As someone who works in small business, I almost never leave poor reviews for other small businesses, but I feel obligated to do so for Victor Gold in an effort to protect others from making the same mistake I have.My fiancé wanted to have a simple gold band made for our upcoming wedding & I was hoping to have an heirloom pavé wedding band (which belonged to my grandmother) reset to fit with my engagement ring. I had debated taking my ring down south to be worked on, but a number of friends recommended Victor & my fiancé & I wanted to give someone local a chance. To start, my fiance & I would try to stop into the shop during his posted hours, but he was never in. We communicated with him via DM to coordinate schedules & eventually found a time that worked for him to meet. We went into his studio & discussed what we were looking for. He was eager to work with us & promised us a fast turn around, though speediness was never a factor at play, as we just wanted the work done well. I should have known that something was fishy when he wrote out a total, but did not itemize the receipt, then asked us to pay a deposit for work he had yet to do. We obliged, knowing that deposits are common in the wedding industry writ large, though not something I’ve experienced when working with a jeweler before. Some time goes by & he is not finished by the day he say he would be. Again, we were flexible with timing, so we let the deadline slide; but I was also getting ready to travel out of town & wanted to have a chance to see my ring so that I could bring it with me if things had gone awry. Eventually, he texted & said that my ring was ready for pickup though my fiancé’s was not.We decided to pick up my ring and, when we did, Victor shared with me that he had broken two of the original diamonds from my grandmother’s ring during the course of resetting it (something I didn’t even know you could do!), but had replaced them. He was flustered & panicked, darting around his studio space. He proceeded to pull out a little diamond tester tool to show us that the diamonds were all real. I was literally shocked into silence. I had a pit in my stomach. The diamonds were not set in a straight line, nor were they spaced evenly. Not wanting to burst into tears in public, we rushed home, but not before Victor asked for a second payment to finish my fiancé’s ring. Out of stupidity & in a stunned state, we again obliged & paid the remainder.Once at home, I took a closer look at the ring & one of the diamonds fell out! I then proceeded to put some pressure against the other diamonds with my FINGERNAIL, & two more popped out. I texted Victor immediately & he gave me nothing but excuses. He argued that the band was too small for the diamonds, or suggested that I needed smaller diamonds. But that had never been an issue with the heirloom ring I gave him! The band had held those diamonds in place for generations. The whole point of me taking it in to be reset was never to make the band itself smaller, or to downsize the diamonds. When I eventually requested a refund, he asked that I give him a chance to finish my fiancé’s ring, & if we were unhappy with that ring too, then he would refund our total. I wanted to just end the whole ordeal & have the total refunded to my card right then, but my fiancé still wanted to give Victor a chance. So we did.A few days later, Victor told us that my fiancé’s ring was ready, but when my fiancé stopped by, Victor was nowhere to be found. He tried one more time to coordinate a pickup time, but Victor cancelled on him at the last minute. Having been stood up twice, we decided to ask for the refund. Victor dove into a guilt trip saying that he was going to lose money because he’d have to sell the gold he bought back for less than he paid.To this day, two month later, no money has been deposited back into our account. We have filed a complaint with our bank to try & get our money back, but there is no promise that this will work & we are now out $900 with nothing to show for Victor’s work except heartache & stress.

Took a very special ring to him to be resized and he not only sized it and repaired some broken and loose tongs on the diamond, but also did it in only a few hours. Had my ring back the very same day! There’s another review for him that must be made up, because he had not been in business long enough for the review to be true. I had asked him about that review and he thought and thought and did remember a very disgruntled customer that asked for a specific job to be done that Victor didn’t feel comfortable promising, especially for the price that customer wanted to pay. I admire him for knowing his limits. I have plans to take another special ring to him to replace a stone.
