Social Profile :

The UCR Botanic Gardens is a 40-acre living plant museum with more than 3,500 plant species and thousands of specimens from around the world, with a focus on plants from Mediterranean climate (dry summer) and arid lands similar to California and the desert southwestern US. The variable elevation and topography of the Gardens and Riverside’s subtropical climate create numerous microclimates that allow for the notable diversity of plantings as well as an abundance of wildlife. About one-third of the Gardens’ 40 acres remain unplanted and consists of native plant communities including coastal sage scrub and annual grassland.

It is a great place to take the family and enjoy nature. The trails are for all types of people, from the adventurous hikers to the easy-going walking and enjoying the scenery types. Recommend it 100%.

First time there today. It was a nice nature walk. Some slight inclines. Mostly paved walk ways. Peaceful

Parking is $4 for 2 hours limited parking. GPS takes you the wrong way use UCR lot 10 then drive up the driveway just past. Family membership is $75 but entrance is based on donation. Use the seek app if you have no idea what a plant is and there are no markers nearby. Little pond with koi up a set of stairs or just past the Indigenous Garden. I have yet to interact with any staff or volunteers in terms of them being around answering questions. Usually just a volunteer up front, who probably shouldn’t tell a 5 year old about bobcats being in the area (they’re mostly crepuscular) so I had to reassure my neurodivergent child that she was safe while exploring from 8am-12noon when they are open. Bathrooms are clean and available.
