… on the edge of the airfield. Expect to walk 4000 ft from parking lot to overlook then to hangers and then back to parking lot. The lady in the book store was very nice.

It was a great honor to visit the place where legends were made. Considering that the museum was still closed due to Covid, my wife and I still enjoyed looking over the runway and hangars and reading all the informative plaques. The reason I docked a star was because at this point in the pandemic (we visited in late April 2021), half of the adult American population has been vaccinated which is over a third of the US population as a whole, yet the National Park Service STILL can’t seem to open most parks’ visitor centers and / or museums. At this point it’s unacceptable. Do they expect to remain closed until Covid cases are 0? History should never be closed.

Wow, what an experience for all to immerse yourself in the rich history that this airfield represents. Every bit oas interesting as you would think. A short walk down the the field from the parking lot takes you through some commemorative artifacts as well as provide an overview of the hangars and ancillary building used. A peek inside hangar 1 is awesome. The junior ranger pin is the best one of the bunch. We’ve collected many but this one is worth it and allows for an education on the history. The visitor center is open however the hangars were closed.

As a Veteran I try to visit historic military sites. This was on my list for a while. Stopped by after a VA Hospital visit. Great site.
