John will see you something, and when he is in your house, he is fine, but trying to get him there is a nightmare. He not only does not follow a four hour window policy, but he will wait until the end of the day and call you and tell you that you have to call him the following week to figure something out again

You have been warned. The owner, John Notch, is just not very customer focused. He sold us a valor fireplace. He tried to tell us that he had to install it. When we experienced the level of presales customer service we knew installation and post sale would be horrendous so we decided to have someone else install it. First off, he neglected to tell us all the parts we needed to buy to install the fireplace. When the fireplace arrived all the parts that were missing prevented the installation. We told him we wanted the linear heat defuser and he sold us the wrong one then made us rebay the one we originally ordered. A part arrived damaged and he couldn’t even help us replace it without us having to jump through hoops to deliver the defective part.I chose to buy from the reseller closest to me to help a local business. In retrospect, I should have gone with the reseller with the highest ratings. If you’re buying a valor fireplace use their locator and then look up all the sellers. At the time of this posting the one with the highest rating is Summit Fireplace and Grills in Castro Valley. They have sellers in SF and around the bay.My recommendation is avoid buying anything from this retailer at all costs!
