John is an excellent craftsman and supporting small business every chance I get.

And after charging a ridiculously high fee for minimal service.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality My antique mantel clock hadn’t run in about 30 years. I took it to AK Clock Gallery and they cleaned it and it is working fine some months later. John is an excellent craftsman and supporting small business every chance I get.

Would give zero stars if I could.I have multiple reasons to give this gentleman (I use the term ironically) a bad review. First, he charges a steep up-front fee for in-home service to clocks of $425 regardless of the difficulty of the task or the length of time it will take to complete. He arrived not at the appointed time and then worked for less than an hour. I understand the economics of supply and demand and therefore we were willing to deal with this although we felt it unreasonable at the time, it alone would not merit a low rating. It is the following sequence of events that makes me recommend against using this individual’s services to anyone in the future. Our home has a long driveway that we keep clear of snow during the winter as best we can, however when the breakup occurs in the spring, it can get slushy and muddy. On the day of service, I and my wife both were able to easily drive on the driveway with our vehicles (a Dodge Ram 1500 and Subaru Outback). After finishing work, the gentleman slid off our driveway going around a curve and got himself stuck. He called my wife who called a tow truck for him, though she was confused why he did not call one himself. A few days later we received an invoice from the gentleman for the tow truck services, though it was on his own invoicing paper. When asked for an actual copy of the bill from the towing company he refused to provide it. Regardless, we felt it was not our responsibility to pay for his inability to drive or make good decisions about whether or not he could manage driving on a road or driveway. After refusing to pay, he then threatened with lawsuits to the point that my wife became so concerned about our credit being ruined by a supposed lawsuit or collections agency that she gave in (in tears) to his demands. The man took no responsibility for his own poor judgement and driving error. And after charging a ridiculously high fee for minimal service. With regards to his ability with clocks, I am guessing it is adequate but regarding his honor and credibility as a person, it is surely lacking.
