My family has gone to Swift Optical twice now since living in Massena. The first time went well. I actually don’t mind the video conference style visit with the doctor. This last time didn’t go well with the in office staff. I felt that it was rushed and impersonal. I know with the COVID situation that is the new normal. We don’t have eye insurance so we paid out of pocket. I had questions about options online BUT still talked to them about ordering one pair in their office. I have a 5 year old so I am expecting that we will misplace multiple glasses, some will become scratched and who knows what else we will have happen. She is new to wearing glasses so I wanted to get a pair of “play glasses” online at a much cheaper price. The person who did the exam seemed upset that I mentioned that. While we were out in the waiting room looking at which glasses to order she came out and handed the glasses tech a piece of paper. She then turned to me and asked if I was going to be ordering the glasses my daughter chose. I have no idea what was written on that paper but the coincidence seemed odd that she said she would never order glasses online. The glasses we planned to order were roughly $210 dollars with all of the extra add ons such as the blue light filter and glare protection. We had done the paperwork for the glasses, she measured her eye distance and everything that was needed to put the order through. Due to the off putting unprofessional manner of the employees I left without ordering those glasses and made an appointment at another eye center. I will repay for the exam out of pocket all over again to receive decent treatment from staff.There is a young woman who works in the office that was so kind and patient with my daughter. She spoke to her about Halloween and was so pleasant. She deserves a raise!! I don’t know her name but her desk is directly across from the entry.
