Legendary surf spot and perfect place to visit for all kinds of reasons, in all seasons, and generally an awesome place to be. The weather tends to be nicer than surrounding areas, and the walk on Westcliff from Cowells to Natural Bridges rivals La Jolla and ranks among my favorite destinations in Norcal. Steamers specifically is in basically between the lighthouse on the point and the Surfer Statue overlook, with entry at both points, but the standouts are located off the point also accessible by tow-in when the waves are right. This is a very crowded lineup, but it’s also worth it to visit or surf one of the most culturally significant, popular spots in the world; Steamers is the true and original surf capital of California.
