Honestly, it saddens me to feel the need to write a poor review. I feel that future brides need be cautioned. Merry has completed several tasks in a timely and professional manner. I recently got married and entrusted her with the task of altering my very pricey wedding gown. I entrusted her with my dress nealry 3 weeks before my event and was not fitted after the alterations until 5 days before my out of town wedding. The dress needed to be shortened and the straps taken up. She failed to account for the change in the bodice when altering the straps and when I tried the dress on it almost wouldn’t zip up. She gauranteed that the further alterations to let out the bodice would be completed two days later by noon and stop by anytime after that. I left her the gown and agreed to pay her an additional $80 for the fix. When I arrived to pick up my dress she had no idea which dress was mine, had forgotten to do the alterations and couldn’t remember what even needed to be done. She nonchalantly told me to come back In an hour or so. Being the week of my Wedding my schedule was packed with pre-paid appointments I had to keep. I told her of these engagements and that I could not make it work to do it later. She told me she would have it done in 30 minutes. I should have listened to my gut taken the dress and left at that point. I left it with her and she was not finished in the agreed time frame yet again. I had to have a friend pick up the dress without trying it on and hope for the best. She was unapologetic and charged full price. She also told my friend that I gained weight and that’s why it didn’t fit!!! Completely inappropriate.(My rib cage is wider than my waist, which is where the bodice sat after altering the straps, a good seamstress should know this and account for the change by altering the entire bodice accordingly – the first time.) Once I was able to try on my dress it was still not correct, the fit was still wrong and after further inspection of the dress found she had top stitched on one of my sleeves. I was and am currently still in shock and appalled by my experience. We had her do 4 other dresses without issue in the month leading up to the wedding so I felt safe trusting her with this task, I was wrong. The only reason I could fit in my dress was due to my bridesmaids steaming and physically stretching my bodice for hours before my event. So I paid over $200 for her to alter my dress incorrectly and treat me as an inconvenience. Needless to say she has lost my business and that of all of my friends and family.
