I’ve been shopping at Shoppers for 35 years. Eclectic and wide selection of cheese has always drawn me back. Also the mostly local, fresh, mostly organic produce. Plus the meat counter — those guys have sharp knives and friendly advice on how to cook your cut. Wine doesn’t interest me much, but they have it lining about three walls. The wooden floors, narrow aisles, small check out stations (can’t help noticing the attractive clerks) — all speak to the fact that this is a family-owned, neighborhood store with what you need, and if it’s not here go down the street.

The place where locals shop. The produce, the butcher, and the breads are all terrific. It is not the place to go for bargains, but if you are looking for pristine ingredients for a picnic or a feast, then you have come to the right place.
