I went in to Sherwin Williams to get paint for my 1985 jaguar. I had just finished doing all of the body work and it was prepped and ready for paint. I stopped by sherwin Williams not really knowing much about paint codes but hoping maybe they’d might be able to help me find the right paint code being that I had photos of color I was going for. The guy at sherwin was not in the least bit helpful in finding the right paint code for the color I was looking at but I figured maybe that was too much to expect and I was able to find out the exact paint code from someone in a jaguar Facebook page. I showed the guy at sherwin a photo someone sent me of the exact paint can with the label of the codes on it and although he couldn’t show me a sample of the mixed paint I trusted I had given him enough information. The day I was going in to shoot my car I had spent the entire morning prepping and masking it off and had guys on the clock in the booth getting ready to paint it when we opened the 1 gallon can and realized he had mixed the wrong paint. The paint I ordered was a gold-ish brown and the guy at sherwin mixed me a teal so he wasn’t even close, and it’s not like he didn’t know what color I was wanting given I was sitting down with him showing him photos trying to see if he could help me find the code in the first place. The guys at the booth helped me realize that he referenced the wrong code on the label When he mixed the paint. I went back into sherwin to get it sorted out and hopefully get my money back for his mistake. They couldn’t seem to do anything to help reimburse me for their mistake the best they could do was send an email to corporate. They told me they would be back to me in a day but I haven’t heard back from them. $500 loss for me and I recommend really making sure they mix the right paint for you and let you know if they do mix the wrong paint you still will prob take a loss it looks like .
