Welcoming space, helpful staff.

This little store has an impressive selection of the Russian literature in English. Also it has many other books worth to read. I think, reading a book is better than reading something from an electronic device. It seems that a paper reading helps reader to see a ‘big picture’ information and better understand abstract concepts. Recomend!!!

Handpicked selections include new and classic fiction and children’s section, but offers robust biography, local authors, and poetry. Also features attractive gift ideas. Custom orders welcome.

I thought this bookstore would be more welcoming based on the reviews but I thought wrong. Nobody greeted me when I walk in and a lady working there gave me a cold stare. As I was browsing some books I heard one of the workers warmly greet another customer (who was white) walking in so I thought this was very strange. Another time I purchased a book, I said thank you to the same lady but she still said nothing and glared at me. Yet they were talking very warmly to the white customers before me. Later I looked at these reviews again and saw a woman of color having the same experience, and as I am also a woman of color I wonder if this is the same reason I got treated this way. It’s strange, I thought we are in the 21st century, not the 19th? Perhaps not POC friendly 🙁
