I was visiting Valdez from Anchorage and upon checking out used the self checkout. My family and I were being racially profiled by the checkout attendant, she was very slow to help us and almost seemed like she didn’t want to. When she finally arrived she proceeded to count out the items we had in the bag even though the machine did not prompt her to do so, and she did not do this to any other customer who needed help. Awful customer service and she outwardly racially profiled us for being a family of color. I will never be returning here again and will be sure to share the experience with everyone.

It’s good. Pretty packed full of stuff but not as much camping/outdoor gear as I remember from back in the day. Plenty of grocery options though. Most of the same things you could get if you were at a Safeway in Seattle plus a little more on the local necessities. There is a small liquor store attached as well.
