Welcome Center opens and guided tours resume May 28, 2021. Group sizes for tours are limited to 10 people or less. Face masks are required on tours. Advance scheduling is strongly encouraged by contacting the Hill Cumorah Visitors’ Center. The Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York, is the site where Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, visited young Joseph Smith in 1820. That visit, often called the First Vision, was the founding event of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Sacred Grove was part of the farmland originally owned by the Smith family, and today it is a healthy and peaceful forest that is open to the public year-round. Winding paths provide many places for visitors to contemplate the event that occurred here.

Great peaceful place for a walk. There are so many trees and paths that there can be many people on the trails and you won’t see or hear them. Next to the “Sacred Grove” sign there is a bridge. If you stand on the bridge and look over towards the temple, you can see Moroni over the tops of the trees.
