Review Summary

Mike and Carmen are incredible and do EXCEPTIONAL work. They are a perfect team and just completed our massive kitchen remodel that was under budget and ON TIME (actually even a little faster than expected).Short version: you will LOVE them, they will do AMAZING work, and you will be EXTREMELY HAPPY with the result. The price is right, the quality is amazing, and you cannot find better.Long version: For our kitchen remodel (complete gutted down to the frame, new everything) we interviewed a few different places. Not surprisingly, quotes were all over the place in terms of cost. But when I met with Mike and Carmen it was different. There was no pressured sale, no hedging on what they promised. They just put it out there in terms of what they do and how much it costs. Even more impressive, Mike does the entire design on his own for a VERY LOW fee compared to anyone else we met. Thankfully we loved his design, loved the price, and hired them. It’s interesting to me that the only negative reviews they have here on Yelp are about customer service however if you read them, what the reviewers mean is the shop is occasionally closed. You know why the shop is closed? …because they’re out working on your house! This is a mom-and-pop (and son) shop. I don’t mean that in a negative way at all. These two have been doing this forever and know what they’re doing. They run a tight ship and do everything themselves, so you know the quality is superb. They don’t contract out anything except for some plumbing and counterops, and they don’t have inexperienced people working in the shop or answering the phones. I can tell you for a fact that Mike was at my house every day during the job at 7:30am, worked Saturdays AND Sundays, and would often stay past 5pm. Carmen (his wife) was also often at the house giving design advice, helping out, ordering parts, or texting the contractors. So it’s no surprise the shop is closed sometimes…. they’re on the job!Communication with Carmen was amazing, with frequent texts and phone calls. Timing predictions were 100% accurate in terms of when things would be delivered, installed, etc. And the end result is amazing. We have only had our kitchen for about 2 months now, but it has already changed our lives and made us (my wife) so much happier. I’m hoping they will be able to do our bathroom next ;-)Last comment: They sell Thermador appliances in the shop. Save yourself a bunch of time and just buy it through them. I originally didn’t like the idea of not having choices. So I did A LOT of research. Online, in store, etc. I visited those giant appliance shops in Concord and San Leandro and tested out every single oven, range, etc. I posted on GardenWeb forums, asked friends, and tortured my wife to death. And in the end…. we decided on Thermador and bought it through the Reed’s for the best price and easiest delivery/installation. So my advice is save yourself a headache and just stick with what they say. They’ve been doing this a long time…
