Ploughshares Nursery sells native, edible and drought tolerant plants to generate revenue for Alameda Point Collaborative’s supportive housing programs. Ploughshares offers employment opportunities through a job training program assisting formerly homeless residents of Alameda Point Collaborative to enter the workforce. We have a demonstration garden at the nursery and we offer free workshops on gardening and subjects related to our social enterprise mission.

They sold me milkweed but I never got to see it bloom because of these insects. They don’t use pesticides on their milkweed so you can feed it immediately to your hungry bugs.Sterile environments are for medical labs. Yes, some plants may have aphids wash them off or crush them I promise you will be rewarded with bees, birds, and if you are super lucky these littles. If you wouldn’t feed it to your pets or kids, don’t put it on your plant.

Lovely selection, especially of native plants. Prices are reasonable. Staff are knowledgable and don’t seem to mind taking the time to answer your questions (which is great). And, they have resident chickens and cats! Adorable
