It was a fixture in the community that seemed to be out of step with time because the use of coal as a home heating tool was almost totally dead, but he maintained a fleet of trucks for years that delivered coal chunks directly to the customer’s coal bins (the few that still depended on this form of heat in the winter months) in a timely manner. He often aided those who could not afford to pay as well. Mr. Key was a neighbor and a friend to one and all on the east and west sides of the city and was adired by all who knew him. An era gone by, but not forgotten, in the building of the city of Florence’s history.
