Each year, approximately 40,000 religious pilgrims and curious visitors pass through the doors of the OLV National Shrine & Basilica. Completed in 1925 and formally dedicated in 1926, this special place serves as Venerable Nelson Baker’s tribute to the woman with whom he credited all of his success: the Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of Victory.

I visited this basilica back in July of 2002 as part of a pilgrimage for world youth day in Toronto. I just found this old picture that I thought was lost forever. A lot of my pictures were lost because this was before I had a smart phone. I just can’t even tell you the beauty this basilica holds within it’s walls. I had such a hard time focusing on the readings and worship because I was so taken by the pristine beauty.
