One of our service trucks broke down along the road with a bad transfer case. We called Mendocino Transmission to make sure they had room for our truck. The new owner John made room for us and was able to diagnose the problem, show us the issue and recommend a solution the next day. The transfer case had a catastrophic failure and needed to be replaced. While a remanufactured case was on order Mendocino Transmission serviced the transmission and both the front a rear differentials. The replacement transfer case arrived and was installed the same day. The price for all of the above, including the new transfer case, was less than a Jasper transfer case sitting in a box. Excellent service, great prices and very helpful staff. If you have a problem with your car or truck this is a great place to go.

Take this review with a grain of salt. The main employee who was handling my project was leaving the area so he acted like he didn’t want to be there. They never gave me straight answers to my questions, and in the end there was a part they handled incorrectly and now it is not working. They did the main part of the job well however.If they have hired a replacement please ignore this review. But I would give them time to sort things out.I’m a business owner myself so I know how bad reviews hurt. But this was not a good experience.

I brought my wife’s van in because I was getting a check engine light that pointed to the transmission, and the transmission would go into limp mode when that light came on. After checking it out he let me know that there’s nothing wrong with the transmission, and it was probably a faulty code, they reset the codes for me and sent me on my way without charging me for anything. Hard to find honest mechanics like that!
