Founded in 1921 as Key Route Hardware (when the neighborhood was known as Key Route Heights), this anchor neighborhood hardware store has remained family owned and operated over the past 99 years, with only three families – 1921-1957, 1957-2017, and now with great plans for the next hundred years of service to our neighbors and to the needs of this unique neighborhood. We’ve already done a complete renovation, moving all the aisles, adding a 4th register, and bringing a much-needed Garden Center to The Laurel, followed by a recent paint job and new awnings. I try to support our local hardware store, but since a recent ownership change many item’s prices are missing making it difficult to evaluate and compare similar items. Not having prices often discourages buying an impulse item. I’ve started avoiding this store in favor of another less convenient Ace store. I’ve tried to encourage better pricing practices but for some reason they just don’t seem get the message.
