Look no further for your air cooled Porsche and Volkswagen needs!!! I have been going to Jansen Enterprise for nearly 2 decades and the owner Ken and his son Joe have been fixing, rebuilding, and maintaining my air cooled cars perfectly. Ken is a master engine builder and machinist. He machines and rebuilds cases, heads, etc… and can fabricate things to fit your needs. Just an awesome place and an awesome group of guys to work with. A family owned and run business I am honored and privileged to support.

I can do that. When it became apparent that my ’55 ragtop bug needed engine and transmission, I asked several VW chat groups for recommendations. I was given about 8 different shops to consider. Out of the 8 shops from thirteen people, seven of them recommended Ken Jansen.I called, then met Ken and I can now honestly say that he is warmest, kindest person you’ll ever want to meet. When it comes to bugs, he was library of knowledge coupled with a wealth of experience. He listened to my requests, which were reliability, reliability, reliability and the ability to EASILY cruise at 70 mph. I asked that only the outcome be guaranteed and how he achieved those goals was entirely at his discretion. He said, I can do that. It was that simple.By the time I got the car back, in the meantime I had asked for a 12 volt upgrade using an alternator, to install the correct-year steering wheel I had purchased, freeway cruiser 4th gear, a rebuilt from suspension and an upgrade to the brakes as he saw fit. ( He put some highly effective disc brakes in the front and rebuilt the rear brakes.) I asked Oh, but do not cut any sheetmetal on the car. He said, I can do that. When I came to pick the car up. I was stunned by his work. The engine and it’s compartment looked brand new and still does today after several thousands of miles on the road. It started easily and ran smoothly and puts out plenty of power for the old road. I can hit 85 mph and probably more if I wanted to risk it but it crushes easily at 70 mph. It shifted beautifully, the headlights actually illuminated the road and braked like no bug I’ve ever driven. After putting the car for the winter, I pulled it out pumped the gas pedal once and it literally starts in only revolution for the past three years in a row. I did Tahoe in the summer with no issues. And for all this work, it still cost less than just having the transmission and engine work only at the other two VW experts I spoke with. I asked how can do all this work for so little money. He said, When you’ve been doing it for as long as I have, you learn where to buy the best products at the best price and I don’t mess around getting the work done. Plus, I sleep well at night.I just bought a ’67 Porsche 912 and I will be setting a time up here shortly to have Ken go through the mechanicals. He has also owned Porsches for over 35 years. I cannot think of a better person to do the work. His shop is watchmaker’s paradise of parts, equipment, including CNC mills, lathes and power washing parts. Oh, and when I asked about upping the 912’s power a bit. He said, I can make go faster than a same-year 911 and keep it reliable. I confirmed, You can do that?. He said, I can do that.Best of all, when the work is done, you not only get back a great, dependable VW or Porsche, you also get a great new friend. Yes, he can do that.P.S. I just saw pictures of the shop. Do not let the shop’s modest appearance fool you. Where it counts is out back where all the equipment and, moat importantly, where all of talent and knowledge exists.
