City of Ontario Raises TaxesI am reaching out with a request to suspend unnecessary taxation.The city of Ontario passed to nearly double the pet registration fees and penalties. Then the sent the humane society through the city leave notifications on people’s fences that they will have to register their pet, not just vaccinate. I understand it was already a law prior to this engagement but when I spoke with the city planners office they stated they need to raise prices due to inflation.The prices were raised July 21st 2020 and the Humane Society was sent out less than a month later to place notices on people’s doors, to avoid direct contact and wait til they step inside, the notices state to pay or there will be court action. When I asked why there was no stipulation placed for emergency situations, the city representative stated that during the town hall meeting, which is only accessible by phone and/or internet, could have made the request. If the city council believes that both are as easily accessible to the public then they must be in an essential job.The Humane Society is deemed essential to drive around and monitor neighborhoods for more money but we can not escape the lockdown to make the money, then how is it fair. I am scared of getting retaliated against by the city for this so I left my email only. There are many that have been forced to be locked in their homes and our now getting told to pay up or else. I was told if I have an issue I can leave it in the comments of the city page and contact individual council members. I have left my contact information with them but no avail. I will be reaching out across the city and spreading the word about the INCREASE IN PET TAX.DOGS & CATS ARE A RIGHT NOT A PRIVILEGE.
