We have been to Italy more than 34 times over past 38 years, spending many months there in total. It is difficult to find in California a truly authentic Italian restaurant as they typically Americanize the dishes for tourists that don’t really know or appreciate good and correct Italian cuisine. After a bad experience at another Carmel Italian’ restaurant we used to find so good, we looked and discovered Il Tegamino. A true hidden gem well off the main street tucked into a private and cozy courtyard that they keep warm with heaters and umbrellas (it was low 50’s in Carmel in May!).All four of us had different dishes and starters. All excellent. Without going into detail, I would suggest most anything on the menu would be a good choice. You will be greeted by an Italian, then graciously served food prepared by an Italian chef from Naples. They discovered our grand -daughter was having a Birthday, gave her a treat at no charge in addition to her amazing chocolate tart we all shared. This restaurant is our new favorite for Camel!

Cute and cozy outdoor dining that’s not by the street so you won’t hear or smell cars zipping by.We came here for dinner and the service was great, ambiance romantic and felt safe. Tables were spread apart and servers all wore masks.Recommend making a reservation and they only allow you to stay for 90 minutes which is plenty of time.Their pastas are sizable portions so we ended up only getting the octopus appetizer and a pasta each and the tiramisu to share at the end. We left super full and fulfilled. They do traditional pastas and simple, no frills. Come for a casual comfortable meal.

LOVED our dinner at Il Tegamino! The patio was in such a cozy courtyard. I loved that it was more private compared to some of the restaurants who have patios on the street. The zucchini parm was our favorite item we ordered. We also got a coffee ice cream dessert that was great.
