Recently I was denied service twice by Holden, the assistant manager (blonde hair with glasses) at this store. I went in both times with a simple request: to ship a thank you card on behalf of my healthcare company to a frontline healthcare worker. My request that the cards be sent using my company’s office address was denied by Holden because as he put it it did not match the address on my personal ID. The first time this happened it puzzled me…I have done this multiple times at other stores. He said he was not allowed to change the address because of security reasons. I asked him if there was any way I could verify that I was in fact a worker for this company. His answer was an adamant no.Here’s why I’m writing this today: after leaving the story *card still in hand* I called a nearby Fed-ex store and explained this situation to their manager. This individual confirmed right away that this is a simple request that can be taken care of manually. I agreed to drive to his store for help but was very frustrated. Holden has thrown a wrench into my schedule, I now had to drive to another city for a change of address request. When I arrived, the manager at this other store reassured me that this is a simple fix and that Holden is wrong. He took care of my issue in less than five minutes.I unfortunately had to run to the Copeland store again because I was cramped on time yesterday; I hoped someone other than Holden was there but alas he was the only manager available. He AGAIN denied me the same service of sending out thank you cards to front line healthcare workers using my company office address. This time I called corporate and had a report filed.I am frustrated that an assistant manager at a Fed-ex store cannot be trusted to help me with such a simple request and this does affect my confidence in Fed-ex that these types of workers could climb the ranks. Never was I told sorry by Holden and never did he offer me to help set up a corporate account (assuming this was necessary which it isn’t). In all, this is disappointing and I hope corporate at the very least has a communication with this unhelpful worker who is far from what what one could call manager material.
