Yesterday, I was driving back to San Antonio from Dallas. I had just gotten into Waco when I had a tire blowout. I drove carefully off of the highway to a gas station. I have no spare (a longer Snowmeggdon story) so I looked up tire shops close to where I was. I made my way very slowly to a used tire shop closest to me, a couple of miles. To my chagrin, when I got there I saw the sign that said cash only, no credit cards. I was told I would nevertheless be taken care of despite having no cash on me. I assured the owner’s wife that I would go to an ATM and pay them.So, a new used tire was put on, and I asked the owner how much I owed him. He said nothing. Thinking I misheard, he then said it’s free. I was absolutely blown away and floored by this magnanimous act of kindness. I actually had tears in my eyes at this man’s kindness. I left and made my way to SA, but I will never forget this day and the kindness that was shown to me by a complete stranger. I will absolutely pay Mr. Diaz’s kindness forward. So, if you ever need a quick tire fix in Waco, Diaz Used Tires on 18th will take care of you.
