Almost impossible to get hold of anyone on the phone (it took me five tries over several days) and when you finally do they are unhelpful. I called at 9 am opening on Saturday to ask if my repair was done (we had been told it would be done by several days earlier but got no call) – and the guy who answered literally told me he didn’t know and needed to check but was dealing with his 4 year old at the minute and could he call me back in a minute. I said yes and Lo and behold it is now their 1 pm closing time and no call. I am not optimistic that the repair will end up being any better than the abysmal unprofessional customer service – but I can’t tell you for sure yet either way because I have no idea whether it’s even been done.

I wanted to love this place, but the gentleman owner is unfriendly, they have long repair times, and sometimes do shoddy work. I had my boots resoled here a few times before and the work was pretty good, though it seemed a little pricey at $75 for a 2.5 week wait. After getting my boots resoled again, I picked them up on a Tuesday and the heel broke off after 30 minutes the next day (first time I wore them). I go back to the shop and the guy comes up, so I show him the shoes and say I just picked them up:Oh, it looks like we forgot to put nails in them – OwnerWhat? How do you forget the nails? – MeOH DO YOU REPAIR SHOES?!?!?! WE’VE BEEN OPEN SINCE BLAH BLAH BLAH — queue 2 minutes of the owner going off on me with me just standing there, trying to interject that I was genuinely curious. He starts going to the back of the shop mumbling something and I start asking for my shoes back so I could just please leave. He ignores me until his wife (?) comes to the front and starts apologizing.I wanted to like this place. I’ve defended this place from people by telling them to go back and give them a chance since they do good work and it’s local. It seems like the only reason they’re still open is because they have zero competition in Davis.I’ll be going to sac for my shoe repair from now on.
