Had an amazing time at the Crailo home this morning. Staff were super friendly and a pleasure to speak with. Our tour guide *forgot his name* was awesome. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and just a great person to chat with about the history or NY, British and most importantly the Dutch.

TODAY WE DIDN’T PLAN ON STOPPING AT THE CRAILO BUT WE GLAD WE DID. WE WAS THE SCHUYLER HOUSE FIRST AND THE TOUR GUIDE TO US WE COULD GET A PACKAGE PRICE IF WE WAS BOTH PLACES. SO WE GOT TO SEE BOTH HOUSE $14. $7 DOLLARS FOR EACH OF US TOE TO GREAT HOMES. THATS A DEAL IF YOU ASK ME. THE TOUR GUIDE SAM WE EXCELLENT AND FRIENDLY. AND GAVE US A NICE HISTORY LESSON ON THE HOUSE ANDTHE COLONIAL DUTCH IN THE HUDSON VALLEY. THE HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1702 AND HAD TWO OTHER ADDITION IN LATER YEARS. BUT THEY THINK THERE MIGHT BEEN ANOTHER BUILT HERE ON THIS SITE BECAUSE PARTS OF THE FOUNDATION WAS BUILT AROUND 1660.

This is a little known treasure about the first settlers of New Amsterdam and New Netherland. Rachel was a great guide and a plethora of information. I just learned that my paternal and maternal ancestors were original residents of this area. I will go back again soon.
