Excellent selection of produce, meat, fish, wine, and beer.

Not enough staff to take care of the customers but great service and food.
Patrice Bartling
But very strange there was no canned chicken noodle soup on the shelf.

The Central Market on S. Lamar in Austin is a beautiful store. If you are like most shoppers you are first greeted with fresh produce nested on towers of shaved ice. After you wind your way through an unmatched selection of colorful fruits and vegetables you will arrive in the meat department. Then the regular grocery area and wine. Followed by the bakery and deli areas. If you run across one of the Central Markets, stop for shopping experience you won’t forget.

This place is great. I’m sure there are better times to go when it’s not so crowded. Everyone seemed in a hurry. But th produce is fabulous! I come for MacIntosh Apples primarily. My Grandparents had a tree up north. I love Texas. But there are a few things I miss up home too.

Lots of organic foods. Good prices. Friendly staff. Well stocked seafood, bulk, and alcohol sections. Decent bakery. What more could you ask?
