An exactly average experience and final installation. Our salesperson was Danny who was very nice, punctual, helpful, and pretty good at keeping me updated on things. I was told the installation would be done within the month and it was.The installers seemed nice enough, the floors look good.So why average? We did all the carpet, tack strip, and linoleum removal ourselves. We were told that to install the vinyl plank, the floor had to be exactly flat so one of the line items on our bill was some filler so the installers could flatten out the floor. The floor is installed now and you can feel where it’s not flat. When I asked about it, I was told that the only flattened the really bad spots and to get it perfectly flat would be expensive (nobody said how much) and they didn’t do it (nobody told me about it – i was under the impression the floor needed to be perfectly flat to begin with). I walk on my new floor and feel unevenness in spaces which is disappointing, especially after dropping 5 figures on this once all is said and done.During installation, the toilet had to come up and the installers found that the flange cracked. A plumber had been there a week prior and unseated the same toilet and didn’t say anything so let’s assume a coincidence. I was promptly told about it and I asked to have the toilet left off so I wouldn’t pay them to reseat/reseal and pay a plumber to pull up the toilet and then reseat/reseal- they agreed but the installer reseated it anyway. I was talking to the sales person about this and without my knowledge, or consent, discovered I was on speakerphone with his boss listening. They told me it would be fine to reseat it with a cracked flange (given that I work with plumbers I know this not to be the case and the toilet would likely leak). I asked if they were going to reinstall my floor if the toilet leaked due to their installers decision and their reassurance, they said no. I called a plumber who had to unseat the toilet again and fix the issue.I was called because the installers didn’t use the existing molding in one of the larger rooms, I’m still not clear why. They wanted authorization to purchase and add quarter inch round- totally reasonable. It doesn’t quite match and not all the areas are done. One spot is also cut at a weird angle but the installer said he did it on purpose. Now, when I finish the area where a cabinet used to be I will need to redo that section of quarter inch round.I was charged the full 10 hours estimated for “floor prep” but my friend who was house sitting reported that the installers were in their van, smoking, and talking about politics for a while. I obviously have no way to gauge whether it actually took 10 hours but it was strange enough that she reported it to me and took a recording of them arguing because it made her uncomfortable.I expected dust everywhere and was pleasantly surprised to find everything clean. That said, we did need to open all the windows in the house overnight due to the installers smoking (they didn’t smoke inside the house but my kids playroom reeked). It’s worth mentioning, due to the pandemic and the fact that we were fixing floors in two bedrooms and the playroom, my family arranged to be out of town for this project. It was supposed to take 3 days, it was completed after 10. I was given a $50 discount for my trouble. So… average. My floor isn’t flat as promised, I need to do my own cosmetic touch ups but it was done relatively quickly during a time when contractors are booked solid and it looks fine. That said, I will keep looking for someone else to help with my main floor when I have that project done.

Tom was very helpful in helping us find the type of product we wanted. Installation was timely and professional. I would use their services again and would highly recommend anyone looking for carpet stop in and see them.

Twice we’ve ordered window shades for our home and each time Dave came over to measure, and Rick to install, with very quick turnaround. The Hunter Douglas Applause honeycomb blinds look great and are easy to use. We wish we’d bought them years ago! Dave and Rick could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. We plan to go back for a third set in a few months. We’re happy to support this local Ithaca business.
