Made my first experience getting a typewriter serviced so wonderful! I bought my first typewriter a few weeks ago and needed the ribbon replaced; however, the size of the spools was not standard. A friend recommended Berkeley Typewriter to me and they replaced the spools and looked over the machine. They were incredibly knowledgeable, the price was very affordable, and I will certainly be back for any of my other typewriter needs!

I wish I could write a positive review, however, I brought my Underwood here for full cleaning, new tape & repair – nearly all the keys stick. Nearly $200 later and I still have old tape & stuck keys. Essentially paid to have the dust cleaned off. New owner is very unfriendly & became defensive when I questioned if they increased the prices. Price was much higher than the last time I had been. Will go to CA typewriter next time.

I saw their page on Facebook while researching antique typewriter restoration. I messaged to inquire if they could identify a typewriter I had recently acquired. Said they would get back with me when they got to the shop. Identified the typewriter correctly but that’s the last I heard from them. I advise I was very interested in having my typewriter restored, but never got a response. Don’t to much care about apologies on review sites to make themselves look better after ignoring me. Especially with the economy the way it is I would figure they would want a chance to get some business. Someone else will now get that business.
