Art Frame Studio was originally recommended to me by an artist friend. Over the last several years, I’ve asked Paolo to frame several original pieces from pencil drawings to Asian calligraphy. I rely on Paolo for suggestions on how to express the pieces fully and the results have always exceed my expectations. Paolo and Art Frame Studio are tops all around: excellent service, top-level craftsmanship, and superb artistic sense. I recommend this shop to everyone without hesitation.

The workmanship on the frame was really nice, but Paolo felt entitled to display the painting in the shop window without asking for permission. The painting was a portrait of my grandmother by a friend of hers, so I feel sentimental about it, and it was never intended as a show piece. After noticing it on display as I was walking down Castro St in the evening, I emailed Paolo to ask to remove it from the window. He replied he could not while the shop was closed. When I picked it up two days later at mid-day, on the next day the shop was open, it was still in the window; Paolo had forgotten to take it down. It seemed inconsiderate.If you’d like a free exhibit of the art along with framing, this is a good spot.
