My experience was quite delightful. The male and female I encountered were both very helpful, as they located the items I specified. They were also very kind. As a black male I often encounter people, Caucasian and Asian’s who gave a reserved and or frightened looks about them.Sure, I believe they’re justified.l Love you all

You can get Binchōtan charcoal here! This is very special stuff, and the only charcoal that’s reasonably usable in a konro or other small BBQ grill. Also, there’s a very fine assortment of Japanese knives, tools and a small assortment of housewares, and the family that runs the place is very friendly and helpful. This store is definitely an endangered species, which is a real shame, because it’s so special. The neighborhood is changing around it. Definitely get in and take a look. This place is one of a kind.

Wonderful, longtime, family-owned business. Great selection, including many hard-to-find Japanese tools and housewares. One of Little Tokyo’s real treasures.
