After this experience with America’s Best, I may never go anywhere else for my exams and glasses again.Fully vaccinated and with my Covid stimulus funds in the bank, I was finally able to schedule an appointment to get an eye exam and new glasses.I have a complicated health history, and high astigmatism and bifocals, so even with insurance, my glasses are not cheap. In the past, one pair with exam would easily cost me $500.I have been self employed and do have medical care with the state’s Covered California aka Obamacare plan. But that plan, unfortunately, does not include eye insurance options!I did my research before deciding to go to my local America’s Best store in Alhambra for the exam. They have affordable pricing options and a wide variety of lenses to choose from. I was able to fill out the patient paperwork online prior to the actual appointment which saved time.The eye doctor Hoa Huynh, and her staff was thorough with their tests, and patient with me. They were able to accurately and efficiently figure out the right prescription for me even though I didn’t have my prior records with me.But it was my experience with Jackie, who helped me with finding the right frames for my face and prescription, which made this my golden ticket. She understood that I was paying fully out of pocket for my glasses, and anxious about the final costs. She quickly got a sense of what my personal style was for the frame, and the things I needed to make it work for my lenses and face.Jackie thoroughly went over the different options I had for the lenses, frames and cost. We even discussed how I actually used my glasses to read, drive and see throughout the day, only to realize I was not taking advantage of the bifocals for nearsighted reading at all, and seeing through the upper part of the lens. This allowed me to decide to go back to single vision lenses again, save money and get 2 pairs of glasses for $500, even without insurance! For the first time, I am going to have prescription sunglasses! This is abundance and gratitude in real life, and only possible because Jackie was able to listen, be curious and understand what would work best for me.Thank you Jackie for being you. I am so looking forward to coming back to get my glasses, and celebrating both of them!
