I won’t take my boat anywhere else now for service or repair. I was basically lied to by the hack my old marina on long island had subcontracted – being told my engine was completely dead and my SeaRay was worthless, that they would be willing to charge me for disposal of a boat that’s in great shape with low hours! Thankfully I decided to do some research and when I found Alex, I knew I found the guy. Not only did the engine only need a new gasket and some spark plugs, he made repairs I didn’t know were needed, at no charge. His fees are VERY reasonable and he cares about his reputation. Even if it’s an extra 30 minute drive, if you’re boat’s already on a trailer, it’s worth it for the peace of mind. If you have access to the Hudson, he’d probably meet you down there.. I highly recommend him & his team!(He also has a few trailers for sale in great condition)

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value Spent 3weeks trying. Out of all the marinas in the area, Alex at Alex Marine plus was the only one that knew how to fix my boat. His expertise is top-notch I highly recommend this shop, very pleased, thank you Alex

Be wary. I asked for shrinkwrapping and fuel filter change. They got BOTH wrong. I have been boating for 35 years. I asked Alex if he primed the filter. He said I should just use the primer bulb. I told him a quick glance at the fuel line would reveal NO primer bulb. My outboard has direct feed to fuel pump. He was surprised. Alex then explained how I can prime the filter myself. I know how to prime a fuel filter but am sensitive to fuel vapors so I was willing to pay for someone else to change and prime the filter…basic stuff. Now I still have to find somebody to do it do my motor won’t stall or worse in the spring.Issue #2: When I picked up my boat it was raining so I did not check the shrinkwrapping carefully. At home when removing tiedowns I noticed the shrinkwrapping was channeling water into the lower unit hub. The motor must remain tilted for trailering and the wrapping did not cover the lower unit. Also, a tight support strap was wound around the prop shaft. I am not a fan of leaving such intense and constant pressure on the bearings and seals all winter. I called the shop and they said I could bring it right back for a fix…I was pleased that Alex’s Marine was immediately willing to make this right!Alex disagreed with my notion that the tilted outboard should be wrapped such that water cannot enter the lower unit and freeze. He claimed that the expanding, freezing water would just push up and out the hub. I listened patiently. Each time I began to explain how water expands in ALL directions and some manufacturers will not warranty freeze damaged lower units that were tilted, he interrupted me stating I dont want to argue with you. In other words, he would explain his opinion which is not consistent with industry standards but was unwilling to listen to any alternative. He even invited me to come back in the spring and look at all the tilted exposed lower units in his yard that had no problems. No thanks, Alex. I will not be back to look at improperly stored outdrives.Alex and his unmasked crew did a good job wrapping the lower unit as I requested (that’s the second star). If your boat has a tilted outdrive or outboard for the winter, you should NOT allow water in the hub. Go to his yard and seal it so you don’t have problems or void the warranty. I invite you all to research winterizing tilted outboards and check your warranties. The industry is in agreement regarding the risks of water freezing in the lower unit hub, except for Alex’s Marine.
