Academy is still the go to for all your basic sports and outdoor need. Other retailers will have high level or smaller niche products, but none match the budget buys you can get here. The shoe section is very thorough. The camping section is more complete than any Walmart or Target section. The only reason I dropped a star is that aisles are clearly mislabeled making it hard to find certain smaller items you can’t spot from the aisle end.

They get 2 stars because I did not have to wear a mask. So why the low score? Because I couldn’t hear the employee behind her mask, and the screen. I asked when they’d be allowed to remove their masks. Her response was, Academy Sports is REQUIRING their employees to get the vaccine. Dear Academy….. that’s against federal law. OSHA will tell you if any employee experiences an adverse reaction because you’re requiring them to have the vaccine, you can be held liable. I will not shop any business that requires their employees to get the vaccine. No one should shop your locations anymore. Employees should be given freedoms to choose. That’s America. Not communist China.

Went in to buy a new pistol and when I went to the counter the guy behind the counter paced about 6 times back and fourth while never asking if he could help me and when I finally got him to help me I asked if they carried a particular gun and he looks at me and says “occasionally” and then walks away! I was a little shocked that this kid is even allowed to help people buy guns. Well I guess that new academy credit card they talked me into getting is going to get out to good use on my way to my other gun shop who charges a little more but at least they don’t have to remind themselves to breathe and know what customer service is!!!
