I went here with my family to try on wedding dresses and had a perfect day.

Today, I managed to lock myself out of my apartment. It is an exceptionally hot day, over 90 degrees and humid. What’s worse was that I had my puppy with me who had just finished a nice long run/walk and was thirsty and ready for some A/C. While I waited for my roommate to come open the door, I was really concerned about my dog overheating. A Love Story Bridal was open so I asked the owners for help after explaining my situation. They were exceptionally understanding and immediately provided cold water (and refills) until my roommate arrived to unlock the door.If you’re shopping for dresses/wedding dresses, shoes, this is a really neat shop and it’s run by good people. I highly recommend A Love Story Bridal!

I hesitated to write this review for a long time, however, I feel it is important to share my experience.A Love Story Bridal was the first shop I visited. I called and spoke to the owner ahead of time, who was quite kind and attentive. I gave my size, discussed my taste, and even mentioned that I was particularly interested in tea length and separates. The owner assured me they had many options for me.Upon arriving (with my mother, sister and 18-month-old niece), we entered the shop and were greeted with Hello, would you mind waiting outside while we finish the appointment before you? They are running late and since our space is small and intimate, we’d like to keep it private. Totally understanding, we went back outside to wait. 25 minutes later (25 minutes after my apt. time) the previous party left, and we walked in. Instead of seeing the owner, another associate was there to help. She didn’t ask who was with me, which felt a bit strange. She asked a couple of questions about what I was looking for (repeat questions I answered ahead of time at their request which she didn’t seem to be aware of at all) and then I was told to browse the three racks they had in the store and select the ones I’d like to try on.I found two sets of separates and one tea length gown. The rest were full length. I thought Well, I’m here, so I might as well just try some stuff on.After selecting some gowns, I was directed back behind a curtain to begin dressing. With each dress I tried on, I realized they were all sample sizes. I’m a size 10 in regular women’s dresses (which I noted to the owner ahead of time) so every dress was incredibly small, and I was unable to zip or button anything. Many couldn’t even get on to my body. No clips, no additional assistance to try and make it possible for me to see what the dress would actually look like on me in my size. I was on the verge of tears as I finally built up the courage to walk out in one of the dresses to show my mom and sister, but I was barely holding it together. My whole back and side were exposed as it was clearly many sizes too small. As I’m out on the podium, a passerby walks into the shop. As this passerby bride and her parents begin browsing the racks and I’m half naked with this tiny dress barely covering my body out for all to see, the associate asks, Can I help you? I assumed she would ask the group to wait outside or make an appointment to show me the same respect she showed the bride before me, but to my surprise, after the passerby said, Oh, we just saw the shop on our way by and wanted to browse. the associate says Ok. and allows them to stay.As I go behind the curtain to try on the next dress, a man and two other strangers are now out in the very small store, able to see in through the cracks of the curtain as I’m naked.I put my clothes back on and started to cry. Luckily, the associate went back out to greet the owner who had just walked in to do some paperwork. To the store:1. PLEASE let your clients know ahead of time that you only have sample sizes to try on. It’s fine if you want to own a shop that only carries those sizes for appointments, but you need to be transparent about that upfront. I felt disgusting. As many women, I am quite insecure about my size, although I know I’m average. Three of the five dresses I selected were too small to even get on to my body and I couldn’t walk out in them. It was frankly humiliating.2. If you have a rule about appointments being private, please show every appointment that same respect. I was already feeling embarrassed in front of my own mother and sister, and then I had to endure that embarrassment in front of three other strangers–after being told to wait outside for someone else.I don’t write this review to shame the store or discourage anyone from visiting. I write it in the hopes that the store takes my experience seriously and thinks about how they can improve this experience for future brides visiting their store. I don’t want any other bride to walk out crying.Thank you for reading.

I went with my daughter who was visiting for the weekend. Unfortunately, we did not have a lot of time to look around, so we chose to go to A Love Story based on a recommendation. We had a great experience and both associates were very helpful and attentive to my daughter’s taste and sense of design. We loved the dresses, but unfortunately we couldn’t find one dress that had all of the features she was looking for. I would recommend this shop if you are looking for an intimate, low pressure experience. We enjoyed the experience very much.
