Tried to charge me 900 dollars to put new seals in my lower unit. Talked to a person in the store that looked at my motor and gave me a quote of “ no more than $200”. I called to schedule an appointment they put me on with a service tech who told me it requires 6 hours of labor and 200 dollars in parts. I confirmed that I just needed the lower unit sealed and not rebuilt . The service tech told me there were nearly 8 seals in it and it was not a small job. I had worked for a small engine mechanic in years past and remembered many people getting their lower units resealed for 100-400 dollar range. Long story short the service tech sounded swamped and probably didn’t need another job. A second marina looked and it and fixed my problem for 150$. I have a 1986 8 hp mercury I could have bought two new motors for the price this place was trying to charge me. I have been here on two other occasions once for a prop and once for lower unit oil and both times the customer service was impeccable. I hope this was just one bad situation or one bad service tech.
