Old Mission Santa Barbara (OMSB) is a unique and significant cultural resource in Santa Barbara. Home to a community of Franciscan Friars since its founding in 1786, OMSB is a center of Franciscan heritage in the West and welcomes all who strive to build a future based on reconciliation and justice that honors creation and all people. Thousands of people come to the Mission, which is an educational, cultural, spiritual and civic center. The generosity of donors enables us to continue to serve the broader community as a cultural, historical and spiritual gathering place. Currently our gift shop is open 7 days a week. Tours and museum are closed due to COVID-19 until further notice.

It’s a beautiful mission if your in Santa Barbara. It has a park across the street were you can picnic. A beautiful garden also. They have artifacts that dates back to the 1700’s and even a dinosaur fossil. It has a nice little gift shop and a campground across the street if you want to go camping. But definitely worth checking out.

A must see when in Santa Barbara. Take your time to learn about the rich history about how the missions started and what their purpose was. There is so much to learn. The cemetery is full of history and mystique. Take pictures but remember to be respectful of the property.

Absolutely beautiful location. Very relaxing but also very busy. Lovely atmosphere with a lot of civic interest and activity.
