Gelateria Uli was founded by Uli Nasibova in Downtown Los Angeles. Our gelato and sorbet is made fresh daily in our kitchen in the Spring Arcade building in the heart of Downtown’s historic core neighborhood. At our two locations, we also serve fine espresso drinks, along with an array of fresh pastries. Every day our cases are stocked with popular flavors like California Pistachios, Sea Salt Caramel, Stracciatella, Speculoos Cookies, Chocolate Sorbet, and Coconut Lemongrass Sorbet along with rotating favorites including Yogurt Lavender, Poblano, Beet Tarragon, Maple Pecan, Saffron and summer stone fruit sorbets.

Part of Downtown Los Angeles’ bourgeoning dining scene since 2014 it was over six years later that Gelateria Uli earned accolades from Los Angeles Magazine as the city’s “Best Ice Cream,” a visit to the original Spring Arcade location on Saturday casting doubt on the validity of that list based on a sampling of three flavors.Owned by Ulviyya Nasibova, a native of Azerbaijan who considers the Gelatetia her “American Dream,” it is with Social Distancing guidelines in place that guests are invited to choose from 24 daily flavors, the fact that three were sold out at 6:00pm preventing a taste of California Pistachio that was instead replaced by Cinnamon-heavy Horchata.Using time-honored Italian techniques, plus local Ingredients as often as possible, additional flavors run the gamut from traditional to “LA-Inspired,” and although the willingness to try Black Sesame or Lavender is commendable a spoonful of Stracciatella lacks the creaminess of what one gets in Italy or locally from an “American” spot like Jeni’s while Bee Pollen tastes more Caramel than Honey with a slightly granular mouthfeel.

This place was cute and the gelato was delicious. Lots of interesting flavors, I had the basil, my daughter had speculou and my friend got mint chocolate chip and salted caramel. All were amazing! Also our server was very knowledgeable and friendly.

OMG, it was beyond my expectations!!! The most unique flavors, way healthier than regular ice-cream. They use organic fruit that are in season, purchased from the local farmers. You can also purchase your favorite flavor in pints.Friendly staff, tasting and dine-in is allowed. Would definitely go back and highly recommend to everyone, if you are in DTLA, visiting Gelateria ULI is a MUST!
