Update- It is now open again to the public. Worth a quick stop for Spanish, Mexican and US transitions through history. It is next to the pier and the exit faces a small park. Takes a few to ten minutes or so, depending on how many questions you have. Docent was very helpful.

Oldest governmental building in California! Super cool artifacts inside the museum. And a very detailed model of a tall ship! Very interesting history on display at this museum! Staff/docents are friendly and knowledgeable. Gift shop has some really cool items for purchasing too!
