The Stone’s Candies Story 1973 Jan and Marg Stachowicz, originally from Poland where chocolate making has a rich tradition, worked in America as a chocolatier at Nestlé. Drawing from his passion for candy making and his cultural roots, he developed many new techniques and delectable tastes, which he and Marg would ultimately bring to their new shop, Stone’s Candy at 145 West Bridge St., Oswego, NY. Throughout the years, Jan handed his “sweet skills” down to his step son, Don Regan. When Jan passed away in 2002, Marg ran the business while Don took over as confectioner, where he remains to this day.

Opted for what sounded like a delicious treat, the turtle sundae. Vanilla ice cream pecans, chocolate, caramel, and topped with one of Stone’s turtle candies. It might have been good, and the candy was good, but the ice cream was badly freezer burned. To be fair, this was Memorial Day weekend, and it is probable that later in the summer they might have better turnover and fresher ingredients. Two other people in our group also had freezer burned ice cream. If you go, wait until later in the summer.
