Fenty Makeover Fail I went to Sephora a couple of weeks ago and saw that they were doing free Fenty makeovers but at the time I didn’t have the time available to stop and get one, so I went back yesterday to get my free Fenty makeover. I explained to the “artist“ my skin type and concerns with my skin and I told her that I had tried a sample of the Fenty foundation before but that I really didn’t like the texture/finish and was wondering if it might be because I just didn’t apply it properly. At first I was pretty happy because she started to put products on my face that I was looking forward to seeing how they turned out, like the Dr. Jart Tiger Grass color correcting treatment & the Tatcha Silk Canvas primer. The “artist“ had used an imaging tool to determine the exact shade of my skin beforehand & had tried a couple of swatches of the Fenty foundation on my neck and jaw before she started everything but the color that she put on my face was way too light and I was really not happy with the texture at all. Even after putting the Tatcha primer on there was still a terrible texture around my nose and cheeks. My initial impression was “ok, we’re going for the Harley Quinn look” When the “artist“ put the concealer under my eyes she used way too much pressure and made my eyes water like crazy, and on several occasions actually got the brush bristles into my eye. The end result did not look polished and really had a cakey texture. The blush was applied way too heavy and much too high on my cheekbones and I feel like the setting powder added absolutely nothing to the overall look whatsoever. Honestly, the only thing that I really liked from this makeover was the Fenty mascara (which I applied myself) and the lip gloss. To sum it all up, I have no idea if my end result was due to the products that were used or if it was due to the techniques that were used to apply them. The “artist” who did my makeover seemed to have very nice makeup on her own face but did not seem to have a good understanding of how to apply makeup to someone else’s face. I have no idea if the “artists” who are giving makeovers at Sephora are professionally trained but it really did not seem like my artist had any kind of professional training and I will not be going back there for any makeovers in the future, free or otherwise
