Social Profile :

Placid Boatworks is driven by an insatiable desire to create the finest lightweight pack canoes the Adirondack waterways have ever seen. We have given the pack canoe a makeover in both design, materials, and construction methodology. Placid Boatworks offers a modern, kayak-like, asymmetrical hull design with differential rocker and sheer, as well as shouldered tumblehome. All of these features, together with Placid’s vacuum assisted resin transfer molding process of aramid and graphite fibers, make our boats the most sophisticated pack canoes ever built. Stoutly built hulls with feather-like weights and incredible performance are the result.

Placid Boatworks makes some of the best solo canoes on the market. The quality of their boats is second-to-none, and the designs are also top-notch. I appreciate working with their staff, and the attention they put into details and the customizability of each canoe. I’ve spent so many days of my life in the Spitfire and Rapidfire, and will continue to have some of my fondest memories exploring the Adirondack region in these canoes. Highly recommend!

I demo’d the Placid Boatworks RapidFire last Fall and was blown away by how fast it was on the open water. When I hit the smaller streams it maneuvered incredibly too. The boat is a beauty…excellent craftsmanship. It’s hard to believe something this rugged can be this light. I’ve paddled a lot of boats in my time and this one is my favorite by far. I can’t wait to paddle it once the ice is out. Joe, the owner, was friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend.

Have paddled All over New England, Adirondacks, Florida (Everglades, upper and lower Suwannee, and Apalachacola), 150 miles down the upper Missouri in Montana, 7 days on the Green River in Utah thru Canyonlands, to name a few and my Rapidfire has never let me down. I am 78 years old and can still paddle 30 miles a day.
