Walkabout has a great design logo, and a time-honored formula in Woodstock: stylish (mostly ) South Asian women’s clothing boutique, combined with an odd, but tasteful repertoire of folk and religious art from a variety of destinations, East and West, North and South. Ever the quatrain shall meet, right here, in this tiny shop. Ganesha, the most popular Hindu deity in the world, has many likenesses on the shelf. There are some beautiful Buddhist statues as well, in cast metal or resin, from a variety of ‘Oriental’ destinations. Moreover there are folk artworks and talismanic items that you won’t find anywhere else in Woodstock, or even in exotic boutique-ridden Berkeley California for that matter. This is a wonderful place to shop for your inner shaman, repressed bric-a-brac maven, or simply for another silk scarf to tie to the microphone stand of your favorite chanteuse. Or to a bedpost. Or to whatever!
