Found myself near Sylvia’s today and couldn’t resist. I’m looking forward to returning for indoor dining but until then I took out her famous fried chicken, side of Mac n cheese and grits with corn bread. Delicious! Staff was friendly and easy ordering online for pickup.

What’s not to love about Sylvia’s restaurant. This is one of the few truly soul food low country south Carolina style restaurants in the NYC. Now I’m not mad at or shading any other spot HOWEVER for me and mine, we gots to have that low country flavoring of less is more. Sylvia’s cooks let the fried chicken taste like chicken with seasoning and not vice versa. In short, Sylvia’s cooks recognize that collards with a hint of vinegar is lip smacking good. They recognize that mac and cheese should be a subtle smooth, cheesy and macaroni flavor. Soul food should make your soothe your soul. So how was my greens? On point. Tasty. And um um good. I’m from low country and know that not all soul food is the same. Different regions of south Carolina cook differently. Go get some low country cooking from Sylvia’s. It is really good food.

You can set inside they have outside dinning only. Which the should have that on the website. Most of the outside dinning is for reservations only. Then you have to order online then they bring the food to you. I waited 1hr for my food. You had to pay In advance that the only reason why I didn’t leave.
